Mont’e Prama Foundation Unveils New Temporary Exhibition: “Mont’e Prama 1974/2024”
For the first time ever, visitors can marvel at the Mont’e Prama collection from every angle, gaining a deeper appreciation for its historical and artistic significance. The Exhibition allows for a comprehensive view of the sculptures, providing a 360-degree encounter with 8 anthropomorphic “Giant” sculptures and 6 nuraghe models, promising an immersive experience for archaeology and history enthusiasts.
The Mont’e Prama sculptures date to the early Iron Age (950-730 BCE). In Sardinia and throughout the Mediterranean world, this was a period marked by profound changes. The anthropomorphic sculptures portray adult males, meticulously adorned and equipped with weapons that convey their elevated status. Identified as individuals of exceptional lineage, these figures have been categorized as archers, warriors, and boxers. Equally remarkable are the nuraghe models, presenting the monument in its dual architectural manifestation—both in its simpler form and with multiple towers.
